Job Description:
We are seeking an accomplished Commercial Manager to oversee the commercial function across a portfolio of high-value projects. The role involves managing financial and contractual aspects from pre-contract to final account, ensuring successful commercial performance. Reporting to the Commercial Director, the candidate will provide strategic input, manage risks, support project delivery, and uphold best practices in commercial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead commercial management of live projects, ensuring cost control and accurate financial reporting.
* Negotiate contract terms, variations, interim applications, and final accounts.
* Oversee subcontractor procurement and contract management.
* Support pre-construction with cost planning, tender analysis, and commercial advice.
* Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
* Maintain relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.
* Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and company procedures.
* Provide commercial forecasts and reports to senior management.
Candidate Requirements:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related field.
* Chartered status (MRICS) or working towards it is desirable.
* Experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor in the construction sector.
* Strong knowledge of standard contracts, especially JCT.
* Experience managing multiple complex projects concurrently.
* Excellent commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills.
* Effective leadership and communication skills.
* Proficiency in relevant IT and reporting tools.
* Full UK driving license and flexibility to travel.
