The role
We are currently seeking a Class One (LGV/HGV) driver to join our Transport team. The role involves delivering plastic, steel, and associated products (stillages) to sites across the UK and Northern Ireland.
You will be responsible for ensuring the on-time delivery of orders, handling customer merchandise efficiently, and maintaining complete accuracy to deliver outstanding customer service.
Additionally, you will drive safely, lawfully, and fuel-efficiently, selecting routes with consideration for weight, height, width, and road restrictions, emphasizing economy of movement. You will also provide cover during busy periods and for holidays or absences within the department, demonstrating a proactive and flexible approach.
What you'll do
1. Deliver orders on time and in good condition.
2. Handle customer merchandise efficiently and accurately to maintain high service standards.
3. Provide cover during busy periods and for holiday and absence cover within the department.
4. Complete all work records and documentation accurately, including tachograph records, trip sheets, vehicle check sheets, and proof of deliveries, in accordance with company and legislative requirements.
5. Select routes considering weight, height, width, and road restrictions, with a focus on economy of movement.
6. Check goods on and off the vehicle, obtain proof of delivery, and ensure the security of the vehicle and goods during transit.
7. Operate vehicle ancillary equipment safely and competently.
8. Ensure loads are secure and properly distributed for safety during transit.
What you'll need
1. LGV1/HGV1 Licence
2. Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC Card)
3. Ability to work occasional nights out (allowance payable)
4. Experience with Moffett equipment or willingness to learn
