Join Our Growing Team as a Buyer!
We are a well-established assembly manufacturing business based in Sheffield, specialising in the production of precision-engineered products for a global customer base. As our business continues to expand, we're looking for an experienced and proactive Buyer to join our procurement team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with international sourcing experience to play a key role in ensuring a smooth, cost-effective, and timely supply of components from suppliers across Europe, the Far East, and the USA.
Key Responsibilities:
* Source, negotiate, and manage procurement of mechanical and electronic components from overseas suppliers.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
* Monitor supplier performance and lead-time adherence.
* Work closely with engineering, planning, and production teams to understand and forecast part requirements.
* Coordinate import logistics, including customs documentation and international shipping.
* Analyse market trends, currency fluctuations, and geopolitical risks affecting supply.
* Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal quality standards.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Proven experience in a buyer or procurement role, ideally within manufacturing or engineering.
* Strong knowledge of international sourcing, especially from Europe, Asia (Far East), and North America.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills.
* Understanding of Incoterms, customs procedures, and import documentation.
* Highly organised, commercially aware, and confident with data and ERP/MRP systems.
* Able to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
* CIPS qualification (or working towards) is an advantage.
