Overview
You will work as part of the close knit therapy team at Felixstowe Community Hospital, with opportunities to support discharge to assess pathways for in-patients and optimise patient outcomes through a rehabilitative and reablement approach. The role collaborates with an experienced multidisciplinary team including Modern matrons, doctors, ward nurses, social care workers and the Ipswich Hospital transfer of care hub. Felixstowe Community Hospital has dedicated delirium beds to support patients with more complex cognitive needs, providing an opportunity to utilise specialist cognitive assessment and rehabilitation skills. The post is 30 hours per week with some flexibility over the working pattern within a minimum of 4 days per week (to be discussed with the successful candidate). We are seeking a proactive Occupational Therapist who is committed, enthusiastic and motivated to progress patient rehabilitation goals within a team and use a range of therapy interventions to facilitate timely and appropriate discharges.
Responsibilities
* Be responsible alongside the multi-disciplinary team for daily caseload management of therapy interventions, ensuring all patients receive timely, appropriate, effective treatment and discharge planning.
* In collaboration with the patient, plan and implement single or programme-based interventions using treatment techniques to meet patient needs, drawing on professional knowledge, clinical knowledge and reasoning.
* Apply understanding of the effects and impact of illness and disability on patient abilities and provide advice and education regarding lifestyle changes or adaptations to their physical and social environment.
* Participate in continuous professional development, appraisal processes and other developmental activities in line with professional registration and trust policies.
* Supervise and assist in the development of junior clinicians, non-qualified staff, and students on placement.
* Undertake audits of clinical practice and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications and requirements
* Experience as an Occupational Therapist; forward-thinking and positive approach; ability to work in a beautiful seaside setting.
* Secondment options available; discuss with your line manager if you are currently employed by ESNEFT.
* Be prepared to provide references (email addresses preferred) covering the last 3 years of employment.
* Successful candidates may be charged for their DBS check.
