Our client, a rapidly growing manufacturer in the defense industry, is seeking a Corporate Controller to lead the Finance and Accounting function in a complex, regulated environment. This position is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring compliance with government contracting (FAR, CAS, etc) as well as corporate accounting and GAAP standards while supporting the organization through significant growth and M&A activity. The Corporate Controller will serve as a trusted partner to the executive team and private equity ownership, providing financial clarity, compliance oversight, and strategic guidance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Accounting/Finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and compliance.
* Ensure full compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
* Oversee preparation of financial statements, forecasts, indirect rate structures, incurred cost submissions, and budget variance reports.
* Build and maintain strong internal controls, accounting systems, and compliance programs aligned with government contracting requirements.
* Provide timely, accurate financial reporting and analysis to the executive team and private equity sponsors, highlighting performance against budget and strategic goals.
* Partner with operations, contracts, and business development teams to support pricing strategies, cost proposals, and government audits.
* Play a key role in due diligence, integration, and post-acquisition financial management related to M&A activity.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
* 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with significant leadership responsibility.
* Deep expertise in government contracting compliance, including FAR and CAS requirements.
* Background in defense, aerospace, or other federal contracting environments strongly preferred.
* Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and compliance-driven reporting.
* Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor finance teams in a high-growth setting.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with executives, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
