Job Overview
Eight (8) PA substantive post in the South Bedfordshire Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. The position may also be considered on a fixed‑term contract. The post-holder will join the Neuro‑developmental Team (NDT) to provide assessment and treatment for young people up to 18 years, their families and carers living in South Bedfordshire.
Main duties of the job
* Provide psychiatric assessment and treatment where appropriate.
* Contribute a psychiatric perspective to team discussions.
* Provide senior clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
* Offer consultation to other professionals and agencies.
* Facilitate the development of the team and wider service.
* Assist with the efficient running of the service in partnership with local managers and colleagues.
* Adhere to Trust policies and the agreed clinical procedures and policies.

Education
* Full GMC registration
* MRCPsych parts 1 & 2 or equivalent
* Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register or CCT in appropriate specialty (or within 6 months)
* Section 12 approved and Approved Clinician status or willing to apply for approval
Experience
Essential criteria
* Possesses an extensive range of clinical knowledge and excellent clinical skills.
* Experience of assessment and management of CYP with complex mental health disorders.
Knowledge And Skills
Essential criteria
* Concerned to maintain and develop this knowledge.
* Displays sound professional judgement.
* Exercises sound clinical risk management.
* Sees patients within a holistic context.
* Creative in the design and implementation of treatment programmes.
* Appreciation and understanding of transcultural and gender issues in psychiatry.
* Shows an approach based on critical enquiry and evidence‑based practice.
* Able to balance competing demands and prioritise.
Desirable criteria
* Higher academic degree.
* Higher training in a specific psychotherapeutic treatment or modality (e.g., Family Therapy, CBT, group psychotherapy).

* Excellent communication skills with a range of different people.
* Ability to build effective relationships with patients, families, colleagues and other professionals.

Teaching

* Experience of teaching in small groups and lecturing.
