Job Title: Graduate Consultant - Economics

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a high-profile consultancy seeking a Graduate Consultant to join their respected Economics Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate-or someone with up to one year's experience-to build a career at the intersection of economics, planning, development and regeneration.

The Role
As a Graduate Consultant, you will play a key role in supporting projects that shape economic development, housing policy and regeneration strategies across the UK. You will work closely with Directors, Associates and Senior Consultants, supporting the delivery of high-quality evidence and strategic advice for a range of clients, including landowners, developers and local authorities.
Typical responsibilities include:
Carrying out research and analysis across topics such as:
Local planning policy
Economic and socio-economic trends
Housing and commercial market data
Social and economic impact assessments
Assisting senior colleagues with report writing and data analysis, and taking ownership of discrete sections of reports from an early stage.
Engaging with external stakeholders including local authorities, community groups, businesses, and statutory bodies.
Supporting the wider Economics and Strategic Planning teams where required.
Attending client meetings and site visits across the UK.
Preparing detailed meeting notes and contributing to presentations of research findings.
Drafting and reviewing Local Plan representations and technical client responses.
Keeping up to date with national policy, market trends and best practice.
Helping design and conduct studies on urban economies and producing high-quality reports.
Managing your own workload with guidance from senior team members.About You
The consultancy is open and welcoming to graduates with no industry experience, as long as you can demonstrate a passion for economics, planning or numbers.
You may have:
Up to one year of experience in economics, planning, real estate or a related field (desirable, not essential).Education (desirable but not essential):
Degree in Economics, Geography, Real Estate or a related field.Key skills:
Strong data analysis skills and competence in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to write clear, concise reports.
Confident verbal communication and presentation skills.
Strong organisational skills, able to manage time and meet deadlines.
Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team.Other requirements:
Right to work in the UK (must be provided at application stage).
Driving licence helpful but not essential.
Willingness to travel for occasional site visits and meetings across the UK.Benefits
