Band 6 Oncology Research Nurse/Charge Nurse

Fantastic opportunity have just become available for a Band 6 experienced nurse to join a busy, successful research delivery team here at UHB, within the NIHR/Clinical research facility. The research facility is a busy early phase unit focusing on experimental medicine.
The Oncology research based at the NIHR/Clinical research facility portfolio has an exciting range of both commercial, academic, observational as well as complex interventional studies.
The Oncology research sister would be responsible for leading on the delivery of specialised, patient focused, evidence based, protocol driven care. The safe and effective delivery of SACT is pivotal to the role. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with participants, relatives and the multidisciplinary team; ensuring that patient care is delivered according to Trust procedures and research standard operating procedures.
The post holder will be required to support the wider research team ensuring that clinical studies are set up within both internal and external NHS objectives and targets.

Main duties of the job
As a Research nurse leading on the oncology early phase portfolio, you will be required to set up and deliver clinical trials. This involves a great deal of organisation co-ordination and attention to detail, to ensure the safe and efficient conducting of trials, with adherence to trial protocol and research governance.
The safe administration of experimental medicines and SACT are pivotal to the role, compliance with policy and procedures are essential.
The delivery of high-quality safe patient care and experience is required, communication, problem solving and collaborations with internal and external teams effectively will enhance this.
Accurate and completeness of data collection within the research framework.
Ability to use I.T systems and extended software to facilitate role.
The oncology research nurse role is a blend of research and clinical responsibilities, that are patient focused.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* * Registered level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register
* * Relevant degree or equivalent in nursing
Experience
* * Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
* * Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting /Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
* * Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
* * Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
* * Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
* * Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.
