At the Deaf Academy, we believe every young person deserves a future full of opportunity. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Careers Advisor to lead and deliver a high-quality, inclusive careers education, information, advice, and guidance (CEIAG) programme for our Deaf and hard-of-hearing students with EHCPs.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the aspirations and outcomes of young people, supporting their transition into employment, training, or further education. You’ll work closely with students, families, staff, and employers to ensure every learner receives tailored, accessible, and empowering guidance.
What You’ll Do
1. Deliver a comprehensive CEIAG programme aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks and CDI Code of Ethics.
2. Provide 1:1 and group guidance using British Sign Language (BSL) or other accessible formats.
3. Coordinate inclusive employer engagement activities, including work experience, workplace visits, and guest speakers.
4. Support students with UCAS, apprenticeships, supported internships, and other progression routes.
5. Collaborate with curriculum staff to embed careers learning across the college.
6. Develop and maintain inclusive careers resources and maintain accurate records of student progress.
7. Promote self-advocacy, confidence, and independence in students navigating the world of work.
What We’re Looking For
8. A qualified careers professional with experience in CEIAG delivery.
9. Proficiency in BSL or a strong commitment to developing accessible communication.
10. A deep understanding of the needs of deaf learners and those with SEND.
11. A collaborative, student-centred approach with excellent interpersonal skills.
12. Knowledge of labour market information (LMI) and progression pathways.
