Thanet District Council seeks an experienced Senior Tourism Officer to drive daily promotion of our vibrant district. This high‑impact role allows your creativity and leadership to shape Thanet’s economic resilience and future success.
Responsibilities
* Lead day‑to‑day delivery of all tourism marketing and PR activities, including coordinating media enquiries, managing press trips, and securing positive coverage.
* Generate inspiring content and update the official Visit Thanet website and social channels.
* Oversee production of tourism guides and literature to ensure high‑quality content across all channels.
* Maintain active working relationships with local tourism businesses/groups and regional partners such as Visit Kent, providing business support and capitalising on joint promotional opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience in a tourism, marketing, or communications role.
* Experience in managing multi‑channel marketing campaigns (digital, social media, and print) from concept to delivery.
* Experience in PR coordination, including handling media enquiries and organising press familiarisation trips.
Key Skills
* Exceptional writing skills with the ability to produce engaging, accurate content for visitors, businesses and press.
* Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of partners, from small local business owners to national bodies.
* Confident communicator capable of representing the council professionally at events, meetings and on press trips.
* Flexible approach to working within a small, busy team, supporting colleagues.
Requirements
* Essential: GCSE Maths and English.
* Desirable: Professional qualification in Tourism Management, Marketing or a related field.
* Full driver’s licence and Disability Confident status.
