City St George’s, University of London and Tape Specialities Ltd are recruiting a Blood Sensing Electrical Engineer (KTP Associate) to deliver an innovative project developing a breakthrough sensing system to assess blood quality inside sealed blood bags, improving safety and reducing waste. TSL is a long‑established medical diagnostics manufacturer with deep expertise in polymer films, adhesives and conversion processes. This KTP will enable TSL to expand its blood‑monitoring portfolio by creating the first system capable of quantifying blood viability without opening the bag.
Responsibilities
* Lead a multidisciplinary project adapting impedance sensors for contactless conductivity detection in blood.
* Optimise electronics and signal‑processing systems.
* Implement clinically aligned validation protocols.
* Apply expertise in blood physiology and spectroscopy to develop robust algorithms.
* Communicate complex concepts, support training, and engage with external stakeholders.
Qualifications
* MSc in electronic, biomedical, or related engineering (PhD desirable).
* Strong knowledge of sensor design, signal processing, data analysis, and bioimpedance.
* Experience in cross‑disciplinary research with instrumentation and biological samples.
* Experience in algorithm development and training delivery.
* Excellent communication, coordination, problem‑solving skills, and resilience.
Additional Information
Location: TSL’s office in Tring, Hertfordshire, with visits to CSGUoL’s labs and facilities as required.
