Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 5 Dietitian to join our rotational team. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your clinical skills while also contributing to service development and student training.
The post includes four six-month rotations across St Mary’s Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital, supporting acute inpatient services. These include admission wards, endocrine, orthopaedics, vascular, rehabilitation, and elderly care. All rotations involve enteral tube feeding and require close multidisciplinary collaboration, offering a well-rounded clinical experience.
You will be joining a large, high-profile, and forward-thinking department that is both friendly and committed to professional growth. We are actively involved in dietetic student placements and strongly support continuing professional development (CPD) for all staff. There are numerous opportunities for audit and service development, and you will be encouraged and supported to participate in these areas.
Main duties of the job
* To plan and deliver a patient centred dietetic service to patients in hospital and in the community.
* To be professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients in your care.
* To routinely provide advice, education and support to patients and their carers as part of the Nutrition & Dietetic care process. To adopt a patient centred treatment approach in order to support meaningful participation in nutrition therapy and self
management.
* To demonstrate effective communication skills when attending and contributing to ward rounds, meetings and case conferences relating to caseload.
* To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records in line with the legal requirements, trust guidelines and professional standard of practice (BDA, HCPC).
* To develop clinical and teaching skills via continuous personal and professional development (CPPD), including maintenance of an up to date CPPD portfolio.
* To actively participate in departmental and other in-service training and development opportunities.

Education/ Qualifications
* HCPC registration
* Membership of Professional Body
* Membership of a specialist section.
* Degree classification upper second class honours or above (or equivalent)
Experience
* Experience of seeing patients according to the Nutrition & Dietetic Care Process
* Experience of artificial nutrition support in a hospital setting
* Wide range of experience in training /clinical placements
* Liaison with professional colleagues, carers and relatives in the hospital and community.
* Experience in a clinical setting of application of professional standards and codes of conduct.
* Experience of using evidence based practice.
* Recent junior experience in a structured rotational scheme.
* Knowledge of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care.

* Able to use in depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology to inform clinical decision making.
* Use of dietary assessment software.
