We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward‑thinking qualified Occupational Therapist to join the Furness Home Based Treatment Team based in Barrow. The post will be supported under the supervision of a network Occupational Therapy Clinical Specialist and involves clinical Occupational Therapy provision within a multidisciplinary adult acute setting for service users experiencing mental health difficulties requiring home‑based treatment.
The successful candidate will provide Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to support recovery within home treatment, undertake supervision of junior staff, and assist with local developments related to Occupational Therapy services across the Trust.
The successful candidate will be supported via Occupational Therapy Best Practice Forums and will have shadowing opportunities with other home‑based treatment teams within the trust.
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is enthusiastic about working within mental health, possesses strong time‑management skills and a compassionate approach to others. The ideal candidate will be an able team worker with excellent communication skills and experience working successfully within busy environments.
The post holder will have substantial experience, special interest, and expertise in Mental Health Occupational Therapy. They will use their deep understanding of the relationship between occupation and mental health to provide occupational therapy that maintains, restores or creates a match beneficial to the individual between the abilities of the person, the demands of their occupations in the areas of self‑care, productivity and leisure, and the demands of the environment.
The post holder will deliver a range of group and/or individual interventions drawn from relevant frames of reference, demonstrating sophisticated clinical reasoning skills. They will prioritise planning and delivering interventions for people whose mental health problems have a marked impact on their occupational functioning, who demonstrate high occupational risk, and who have complex occupational needs. Working across the two arms of the Access and Treatment Team, they will have awareness of both the occupational needs of Start and Home Treatment service users and will be able to prioritise their caseload accordingly.
As a leader and skillful communicator, the post holder will liaise and negotiate across service boundaries and in varied settings. They will be research aware and use evidence to support and develop practice.
