The primary focus of this position is to drive sales and profitability in support of the company’s ambitious growth strategy. This will be accomplished by researching, qualifying, and securing new business, as well as developing and implementing account development strategies in alignment with corporate objectives.
Responsibilities
1. Prospecting
* Actively generate a high volume of leads through cold calling, networking, and leveraging personal referrals.
* Build and maintain a robust network of external contacts to uncover new business development opportunities.
* Conduct regular prospecting activities, ensuring a minimum level of weekly client presentations and visits.
* Perform needs analysis to design tailored transportation, warehousing, and distribution solutions.
* Present solutions to operational managers for review.
* Update and manage the prospective client database.
* Utilize sales tools like Salesforce and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
* Stay informed about all service offerings of the XTL group.
* Arrange and attend meetings with potential clients.
* Research emerging market opportunities.
1. Closing
* Engage in a consultative selling approach to prioritize customer needs.
* Demonstrate negotiation and closing skills.
* Negotiate rate and service agreements.
* Participate in sales strategy meetings.
* Follow up with customers on opportunities.
* Adhere to SOPs when onboarding clients.
* Meet and exceed sales targets.
* Respond to RFPs timely and accurately.
2. Account Management and Development
* Build long-term relationships with clients.
* Educate customers on systems and policies.
* Create new business opportunities and generate leads.
* Stay informed on industry trends.
* Leverage company resources for customer support.
* Manage contract renewals and price adjustments.
* Follow SOPs for customer acquisition and tendering.
* Prepare presentations for QBRs.
3. Budgetary Responsibilities
* Work with management to set sales budgets and targets.
* Develop and present quotes and proposals.
* Manage and report expenses.
4. Culture
* Support XTL’s core principles and culture.
Performance Objectives
* Meet or exceed sales and revenue targets.
* Maintain a pipeline with regular client engagement.
* Grow and retain accounts.
* Ensure operational and documentation accuracy.
* Collaborate across teams effectively.
Main Requirements and Competencies
* 1-3 years of experience in transportation, distribution, or logistics sales/operations.
* Knowledge of specific markets preferred.
* Post-secondary degree or diploma preferred.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Strong negotiation skills.
* Proven ability to engage senior decision-makers.
* Goal-oriented and self-motivated.
* Proficiency in MS Office, Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
* Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Canada and the U.S.
Resolution of Problems and Initiative
* Manage an 8-12 months business cycle.
* Display confidence and professionalism in customer interactions.
Work Environment
* Travel as needed to develop client relationships.
* Strong in-office presence required.
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
