Short Courses and Training Officer – Creative Writing Together AHRC Project

Reporting to Dr Francis Gilbert, Project Lead, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Creative Writing Together AHRC-funded project, which explores how creative writing can support reflective functioning, community dialogue, and intergenerational learning.

The Short Courses and Training Officer will play a key role in developing and managing partnerships with schools and community organisations interested in creative writing. The successful candidate will help design, coordinate, and support the delivery of training programmes and short courses linked to the project’s research and engagement activities.

The role involves building relationships with teachers, community organisers, and project participants; supporting the planning and delivery of workshops and training; contributing to promotional and outreach activities; and helping to develop systems that strengthen the project’s partnerships and public engagement. The post holder will also assist with project administration, budgeting for short courses and training activities, and the collection and analysis of evaluation data to support project reporting and future development.

Working closely with the Project Lead and Co-Project Lead, the post holder will contribute to the day-to-day running of the Creative Writing Together project and help ensure that its programmes are impactful, well organised, and widely accessible. They may also support and guide interns or assistants working on the project.

This role would suit someone with experience of project coordination, training or educational programmes, and partnership work with schools or community organisations, particularly in the areas of creative writing, education, or cultural engagement.

You can learn more about the grant here.

For informal enquiries about the role, please contact Dr Francis Gilbert at f.gilbert@gold.ac.uk.
