Role Title - Community Play Specialist

Location - Hybrid - Cannock Head Office

Salary- £30,000 - £32,000 per annum (dependant on experience)

Contract Type - 3 years fixed term contract

At Newlife, our mission is to champion the joy of childhood and empower disabled children and their families. We’re a national charity delivering practical solutions, driving innovation, and influencing policy—so every child can flourish, develop, and grow.

We’re launching an exciting new project to bring the joy of play to many more disabled children. As our Community Play Specialist, you’ll deliver lively, inclusive, developmental training to the staff and volunteers supporting disabled and terminally ill children—giving them the tools and confidence to create meaningful play opportunities in grassroots and community settings.

This role suits someone who loves working independently, manages their time brilliantly, and feels confident engaging different audiences. You’ll need clear communication, professionalism, and reliability—you’ll be trusted to deliver training solo, while keeping children and families at the centre of everything you do.

This hybrid role calls for independence, enthusiasm, strong self-motivation, and excellent diary management. You’ll organise your own caseload, schedule and deliver training, and support grassroots community play settings across the region. Regional travel is expected as part of this role.

ROLE KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Design and deliver engaging specialist play content to deliver to community settings
2. Deliver engaging, and accessible training sessions to staff and volunteers of community based settings.
3. Uphold the highest standards of child safety in all interactions and training.
4. Manage your own diary, caseload, and workload with initiative and problem-solving skills.
5. Conduct in-depth interviews with settings to understand needs and ensure the service is appropriate.
6. Foster positive relationships and set realistic expectations with settings.
7. Collect data, produce clear impact reports, and highlight successes to inform future planning.
8. Maintain accurate and timely records of training, feedback, and follow-up actions.
9. Write high level impact reports
10. Maintain a strong understanding of the needs and experiences of disabled and terminally ill children.
11. Confidently engage with partner organisations, settings, and community stakeholders.
12. Act as a positive ambassador for the organisation, reflecting its values of inclusivity, respect, and empowerment.
13. Ability and willingness to travel frequently and independently throughout the region to reach settings, families, children and underserved or rural areas

At times Newlife may request you carry out additional duties in line with this role.
