Overall Purpose of the Role
To lead and manage the welfare and pastoral care of seasonal staff (up to 700 at EV and 300 at EVP during peak season), ensuring staff are supported outside of work through efficient accommodation management, clear induction processes, responsive day-to-day support, and compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Accommodation Management
* Oversee general maintenance via welfare coordinators
* Manage purchase of caravans and accommodation supplies
* Coordinate efficient allocation of bed spaces
* Ensure timely waste and wastewater collection
* Staff Management
* Supervise welfare team: coordinators and wardens
* Approve and oversee timesheets and holidays
* Organise induction and ongoing training for welfare staff
* Conduct performance inspections of welfare team
* Inductions & Departures
* Oversee and update the induction process and documents
* Manage arrival logistics, bank account setups, and deposits
* Facilitate the leaving process and equipment return/sale
* General Daily Support
* Monitor and ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues
* Provide ongoing support and advice to welfare staff and seasonal workers
* Maintain daily communication with payroll, recruitment, and farm teams
* Campsite Hygiene and Welfare
* Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are consistently met
* Oversee the use and upkeep of welfare line communication
* Health and Safety
* Ensure accommodation and site-related H&S compliance
* Monitor and arrange gas, electrical, and PAT safety testing
* Coordinate with contractors for urgent or hazardous repairs
* Deliver H&S training and inductions to all relevant staff
Key Attributes
* Proven experience managing seasonal staff within UK horticulture
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Proactive and practical mindset with problem-solving ability
* Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
* Familiarity with UK accommodation and health & safety legislation
* Full UK driving licence
