OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Barbacks are
responsible for maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the bar while
also assisting Bartenders with service. Barbacks should be able to analyze and
understand the needs of the bar at any point of service such as replenishing
stock, ice, and glassware; constantly reprioritize these tasks to make sure
service runs smoothly. In addition, barbacks are expected to know the food,
cocktails, wines by the glass, and beer selections so that they can help
navigate guests if the bartender is occupied with another task.

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Barbacks have an introductory level
knowledge of all The NoMad food, cocktails, wine by the glass, which includes
ingredients, supplier, allergy restrictions, preparation methods and
presentation (both physical and verbal).
* Barbacks have a curiosity and interest
to expand their knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits, beer, coffee, and tea.
All barbacks must have a disciplined approach to studying and focus on
improving their fluency in all departments. This includes but is not limited to
spirit knowledge, cocktail history and timeline, classic cocktails, the London
cocktail scene and recognized industry professionals.
* As a Barbacks, you have a specific set
of responsibilities when you set up and break down the bar for service as
outlined in the SIDEWORK binder. This can include a verity of elements such as
restocking, general organization, syrup production, and getting the bar
detailed to receive guests.
* Barbacks must be able to explain and
discuss all food dishes and menu cocktails available. Barbacks must be able to
perform traditional wine service, pour beer correctly respective to style,
understand proper preparation of coffee and tea.
