About the role
Redlands is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team. This is a full‑time 36‑hour role with 12‑hour shifts Days/Nights and weekends. Driver/UK Licence essential. £12.60 per hour.
About Redlands
Redlands is a residential service located just outside of Newport city centre. We support up to seven people who have a learning disability and mental health needs, including personality disorder, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Our team are committed to ensuring the people we care for have a happy life by promoting independence and supporting them to learn life skills.
What you’ll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents’ wellbeing. You will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual care plans, undertake routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day‑to‑day activities, encouraging and promoting independent living. You will help people reach their potential through practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
Responsibilities
* Supporting with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care.
* Performing light housekeeping tasks such as dusting, vacuuming and changing bed clothes.
* Assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
* Observe, monitor and record physical and emotional well‑being and quickly report any changes to senior staff.
* Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams.
* Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth.
Qualifications and skills
* Driver/UK Licence.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature.
* Empathy, understanding and patience.
* Ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
* Understanding and following policies and procedures.
* Anticipate and respond to challenges.
* Competent in verbal and written English.
* A healthcare qualification desirable but not essential.
