Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology
An opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecologist to join our team at Walsall Manor Hospital.
The post holder will have a specific interest in Uroynaecology and be able to cover all obstetrics and gynaecological emergencies in an on-call role. The post will include resident and non-resident on-call duties. Resident cover will be till 17:30 during the week and twice a day during weekend to facilitate twice daily consultant-led ward rounds on the labour ward, seven days a week. The consultant on-call is supported by a middle grade level (ST3 or above) and junior trainee.
The applicant must have full GMC registration with licence to practice, MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification, relevant CCT or equivalent (must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of Advisory Appointments Committee) and entry onto GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the Advisory Appointments Committee.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
Consultant post in Obstetrics & Gynaecology department with special interest in urogynaecology. The postholder will be able to cover all obstetrics and gynaecological emergencies in an on-call role. Resident cover will be till 17:30 during the week and twice a day during weekend to facilitate twice daily consultant-led ward rounds on labour ward, seven days a week. As part of the Black Country and West Birmingham Local Maternity and Neonatal Services, the Consultant on Labour Ward will provide leadership, support, and training for medical and midwifery staff.
In addition, a specialist service in Urogynecology will be expected, including specialist outpatient cystoscopy and Urogynaecology theatres. The Consultant will support MDT and supervise specialist nurse.

A job plan and work schedule will set out agreed arrangements for how work is organised, where it is located, what in general terms the work comprises and when it is to be performed.
It is expected that the post will consist of a 10 programmed activity week including predictable non-resident on-call of 1 in 12. The post holder will need to be prepared to work flexibly to support the clinical requirements of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
When on call you are required to arrive at 8:30 for handover during the week. Weekend resident cover includes 8:30-13:00 and 19:30-21:30 to facilitate consultant-led ward round twice a day, 7 days a week.
Research, Audit and Continuing Professional Development
You will be expected to initiate and participate in research and audit programmes in accordance with Trust policies and procedures. You will need to manage your programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to meet your needs within the requirements of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Essential Criteria
* Full GMC registration with licence to practice

* Further intercalated or undergraduate degree

Clinical Experience and Effectiveness
Essential Criteria
* ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward practice or equivalent
* ATSM in Urogynaecology
* Ability to safely undertake all emergency gynaecology procedures independently
Desirable criteria
* Experience of managing complex pregnancy
* Experience of early pregnancy scanning
Management and Administrative Experience

* Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of the Service
