We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Responsibilities
* Act as the strategic lead for the management of financial investigations, ensuring compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Provide strong leadership and development for the ECU team, including two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer.
* Motivate and manage performance and work delivery across a dispersed team.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC).
* Influence senior stakeholders to align Environment Agency priorities with external enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes, disseminate lessons learned, input into changes to technical documentation, and advise other enforcement officers nationwide.
* Contribute to the ECU and broader organisation’s understanding of POCA and related legislation.
* Work in a nationally dispersed unit that handles serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience and qualifications
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team.
* Good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act.
* Experience in:
* Working in the law enforcement sector and understanding the National Intelligence Model
* Effective communication including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders
* Working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload
* Identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices
* Developing and enhancing the capability of a team and the individuals within it
Additional information
* This is a hybrid working role; you’ll work flexibly from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required. Incident response is a central part of our work; you may have an incident role and be required to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident (this may attract additional payment).
