The Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is excited to offer an opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our Data and Informatics team as an Information Analyst on a Fixed Term Contract to support the implementation of the new Shared EPR system across the BSW Hospital Group.

We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking individual to work closely with the Senior Information Analysts and key stakeholders at all levels to deliver high quality reporting and analytics to support decision making and improve patient care across the Trust.

The skill mix we are looking for includes data analysis, statistics, Excel and SQL, proficiency with business intelligence tools (preferably Power BI), knowledge of health datasets and an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Shaping the data the Trust holds into actionable intelligence that can be utilised by those that need it, when it is required, will be critical to this role.

To be successful in this role you will have a real eye for detail, an analytical mind-set, excellent communication skills and a willingness to adapt your approach with our stakeholders and interpret requirements with the enthusiasm to get the job done to the highest standards.


Main duties of the job

The Divisional Information Analyst will work closely with Divisional Managers, Clinicians and staff in providing high quality business intelligence information and analysis to support the Division's objectives and business needs. This role is focused towards achieving these objectives through the:

* Development, design and maintenance of health related datasets and complex information and analysis.
* Provision of advice and guidance on specialist analysis.
* Implementation of policies and processes for own area and proposal of changes impacting cross-professional working groups.

Job responsibilities

* Understand and interpret highly complex information and analytical requirements, assess the purpose for which outputs are required and support, develop and deliver appropriate solutions using various information query tools and languages.
* Maintain and develop understanding of the range of sources of data both within and outside the organisation.
* Analyse data for a wide range of clients, determining the best form for communicating/presenting the information, from simple to highly complex and ensuring that the presentation is relevant, comprehensible and conforms to agreed timescales with the client.
* Contribute to the review, planning, development and implementation of new information systems to meet user requirements.
* Develop, maintain and utilise in depth specialist knowledge of statistical and analytical tools and techniques including being the Trust lead in certain tools.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Degree or equivalent professional qualification or equivalent relevant experience
* Evidence of continued personal development
* Degree in relevant fields e.g. informatics, analysis, statistics


Experience

* Proven experience working within an Information or analysis role.
* Detailed analysis & validation of various types of data to inform assessment of performance of complex organisations and to help identify opportunities for improvement.
* Very high level of computer literacy & technical competence - including understanding of a range of additional data analysis querying tools (e.g. PowerBI, SQL, SSRS, SSIS, VBA etc.) of working with MS SQL Server (including Analysis Services and Reporting).
* Understanding of Data Warehouses
* Experience of using both quantitative and qualitative data to assess performance of complex organisations
* Experience in a service improvement setting using a range of service improvement and quality management tools
* Experience in an acute hospital setting.
* Experience with healthcare quality frameworks.
* Experience with NHS
