This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s vast network of rooms.
The role
As a Subcontract Procurement Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance. You play a pivotal role in delivering critical site services within the Partner Commercial Delivery Team. You lead the procurement of all associated supply chain subcontracts, ensuring compliance, value, and performance across a highly regulated environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll be:
1. Producing procurement strategies and leading tender processes from start to finish
2. Drafting and issuing Invitation to Tender documents and managing cross-functional assessments
3. Negotiating subcontract terms with suppliers and securing stakeholder agreement
4. Awarding contracts and ensuring governance is met
5. Collaborating with delivery partners and client teams to ensure successful outcomes
This is a permanent position, working 37 hours per week, with flexible hybrid working arrangements, Monday to Friday. You will be based at Somerset Energy Innovation Centre for two days every other week.
Essential experience of the Subcontract Procurement Lead:
6. Demonstrates strong communication skills, liaising effectively with internal and external stakeholders
7. Proven experience negotiating subcontract terms and managing supplier relationships
8. Skilled in drafting and presenting tender recommendation reports
9. Experienced in leading cross-functional teams through procurement processes
10. Strong commercial background with NEC contract experience
Qualifications for the Subcontract Procurement Lead:
Professional accreditation with either:
11. RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), or
12. CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply)
