Thales Templecombe, United Kingdom. Manufacturing Engineer role at Thales.
Location – Templecombe, United Kingdom. 4 Day Week (Monday-Thursday). This role is within Thales UK, supporting the Industrial footprint for key products, and acting as a subject matter expert in Design for Manufacture within Engineering and Projects. You will provide day-to-day technical support to the on-site industrial footprint and collaborate with Procurement to ensure a robust supply chain.
Responsibilities
* Identify opportunities for manufacturing equipment capital purchases with financial assessment (Cost-Benefit Analysis & ROI)
* Assess Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) of products by reviewing project teams to identify and minimise risk
* Define, set up, prepare and optimise manufacturing processes and tooling for a defined area or product line
* Contribute to Health, Safety and Environment processes
* Define and optimise manufacturing documentation, tools, workflows for manufacturing and inspection based on information from upstream R&D engineering departments
* Contribute to technological innovation to reduce costs and improve workflows while guaranteeing feasibility and reproducibility of the process
* Attend Material Review Boards and Configuration Control Boards on behalf of manufacturing; actively manage failures and changes
* Implement test & control plans for manufacturing equipment
What We Are Looking For / Qualifications
* Experience in a low to medium-volume, light mechanical / electro-mechanical production environment
* Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and lean manufacturing
* Experience with manufacturing systems, including routings, BOMs, Concessions and Change Requests
* Broad process knowledge including machining, assembly (mechanical and electronic) and test
* Clear and concise communication skills; ability to produce high-standard documentation for project and external use
* Must be eligible to obtain SC level security clearance; current clearance is advantageous

If approved by the MOD, a dual national from a Non-ITAR country may be considered. Eligibility for full SC typically requires UK residence in the last 5 years (or in some cases a minimum of 3 years).
