This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of two key initiatives: Building a Secure and Resilient World Research and Coordination Hub (SALIENT) and the Network for Security Excellence and Collaboration (NSEC). These programmes are at the forefront of shaping future regulatory frameworks and influencing industry best practice through evidence-based research and stakeholder engagement. As the SALIENT/ NSEC Administrator, the post holder will provide high-level administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of both programmes. Working closely with the SALIENT and NSEC team and wider research community, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in coordinating outreach and engagement activities, supporting governance processes, and helping to define and implement effective administrative procedures. The successful candidate must be capable of achieving a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and be committed to the British values of democracy, rule of law, respect and tolerance, individual liberty and the seven principles of public life. NSEC is a multidisciplinary community of academics with interests in supporting the UK’s national security and resilience needs. NSEC enables the effective coordination of stakeholders and initiatives to enhance cohesion and accelerate collaborations. This includes; Academics who are keen to collaborate and engage with complex challenges for maximum impact. Problem owners in government who are seeking solutions to some of the UK’s most intractable societal challenges. Industry and third sector organisations aiming to enhance capabilities through academic collaboration. SALIENT is a UKRI-funded research and coordination hub, that also administers devolved funding calls and is led by The University of Manchester. SALIENT is focused on addressing national security and resilience challenges through interdisciplinary research collaboration. SALIENT and NSEC are based at the university of Manchester and sit under The Thomas Ashton Institute (TAI) umbrella. TAI is a strategic collaboration between the University of Manchester and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The Institute brings together academic excellence and regulatory expertise to deliver pioneering research, education, and policy insights aimed at creating a safer and healthier working world.
