Contract: Temporary (8-10 weeks, with potential for discussion on other roles)
Start Date: November 2025
Salary: Circa £36,000 - £39,000 (pro rata, dependent on experience)

This winter, you'll be joining our team managing both The Chalet restaurant and The Skate Lounge bar at Somerset House, delivering a top-tier festive drinking experience at one of London's most iconic winter venues.
The Opportunity
We're seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Bar Manager to take full charge of our lively Skate Lounge bar operation.
The ideal candidate will be a true hands-on leader, responsible for running a bar team of bartenders and ensuring the flawless execution of drinks service in a high-volume, family-friendly environment. This critical role demands a focus on operational efficiency, team development, and delivering exceptional presentation and service for all public guests, private events, and group bookings.

Key Responsibilities
Bar & Team Management
* Lead, train, and motivate the bar team to deliver the highest levels of service and presentation.
* Manage the bar operation with exceptional attention to detail, ensuring a consistently high standard of execution for all drinks and service.
* Oversee the bar during private events and group bookings, ensuring tailored service requirements are met seamlessly.
* Ensure all staff adhere to licensing laws and operational policies at all times.
* Act as the primary bar representative for sponsors, private clients, and stakeholders. Uphold and communicate aesthetic and drink standards to ensure all stakeholder and sponsor expectations are met.
Operational & Financial Duties
* Conduct regular stock-takes accurately and efficiently.
* Monitor hot drink and snack stock throughout the day to ensure optimum operational readiness for sales at a key festive time.
* Manage all ordering and inventory to maintain optimal stock levels and minimise waste.
* Perform routine line cleans and ensure all bar equipment is maintained in top working order.
* Complete rostering for the bar team, ensuring optimal staffing levels.
* Liaise closely with the General Manager to identify busy and fallow periods of business to manage and optimise labour costs.
* Complete daily cash-up, reconciliation, and sales reporting.
General & Compliance Duties
* Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations within the bar area.
* Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the bar and surrounding lounge.
* Act as the primary operational contact for the bar.
* Liaise with Somerset House security and production teams regarding venue repair, maintenance, and any necessary responses to adverse weather conditions.
The Ideal Candidate Must Have:
* 2+ years of experience managing a high-volume bar, ideally within a London venue or events environment.
* The availability to commit to the full 8-10 week contract through the busy Christmas and New Year period (November and December).
* Proven ability to run and manage a large team effectively people).
* A meticulous attention to detail for drink quality, presentation, and service delivery.
* A strong understanding of stock management, ordering, and GP control.
* A proactive attitude and the ability to troubleshoot under pressure.
* A Personal Licence is essential for this role.
