We are seeking
a full-time postdoctoral research assistant in geotechnical engineering to join the Department of Engineering Science in central Oxford. The post is funded by Ørsted, is fixed term for 12 months, with the possibility of extension, starting from 1 January 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The research activities focus on new design methods for the foundations of offshore renewable energy structures. You will be responsible for theoretical and numerical aspects of design, with an emphasis on cyclic loading of offshore wind turbine monopiles. You should hold (or be near to completion of) a PhD/DPhil in geotechnical engineering, along with experience in numerical methods, including the implementation of soil constitutive models in finite element code. You should have excellent mathematical skills, a strong understanding of mechanics and an ability to undertake scientific programming. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, and an ability to work both independently and as an effective member of a team.
