Beech ward is a 12 bedded ward seeking HealthCare Assistants who are motivated to make a real difference with a caring and compassionate attitude, with excellent team-working, communication and assessment skills. Beech ward provides rehabilitation and end of life care within our thriving community hospital. We are recruiting Band 3 HealthCare Assistants with an interest in rehabilitation, frailty and end of life care. We are a forward thinking, supportive multidisciplinary team with opportunities to develop caring skills and progression.

Applications from candidates that require current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible to apply for this position.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.


Main duties of the job

* Provide a high-quality person-centred approach to care delivery within your sphere of practice, always considering patients' privacy, dignity and safety.
* Deliver planned care to a group of patients working alongside the multidisciplinary team in accordance with Trust policies and protocols.
* Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide support/guidance to less experienced staff and learners within the clinical environment as needed.
* Manage a defined group of patients under indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, using evidence-based, client-centred principles to undertake a range of delegated tasks independently.
* Contribute to ongoing assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of patient care, and escalate to senior registered practitioner as appropriate.
* Promote health and prevent ill health in service users, contributing to integrated care.
* Plan and undertake clinical tasks guided by standard operating procedures and protocols within the limitations of the HealthCare Assistant role.
* Undertake delegated clinical skills within scope of practice after training, and adhere to local and national guidance.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Skills and Training

* Essential: Previous experience of working within a fast-paced environment

Desirable

* Existing NVQ level 2/3 in Care; high level clinical skills; observational skills; ECG, Venepuncture

Job Specific Experience

* Essential: Experience of working in a hospital or community setting within care

Desirable

* Ability to undertake basic baseline observations

Information Technology

* Essential: IT literacy to enter patient-related data into identified electronic record systems

Personal qualities/attributes

* Essential: Able to use own initiative within scope of authority
* Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and diplomacy
