Overview
St Richards Hospice has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, skilled and compassionate Counsellor to join the counselling team, combining clinical counselling with a leadership and supervisory role. The service provides specialist bereavement and pre-death counselling to clients in South Worcestershire, and includes the Bereavement Support South Worcestershire Service offering group support for those dealing with a sudden or unexpected death.
Working within the Family Support Team, you will undertake comprehensive assessments and provide one-to-one counselling and therapeutic group work for people affected by life-limiting illness or bereavement. You will manage your own complex caseload while also recruiting, supporting and line managing counselling students and volunteers. You will work within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best possible care for our patients, their families and clients, support the counselling allocation process, contribute to education and training within the hospice and externally, and participate in the Family Support and Bereavement Referral Line rota.
Responsibilities
* Undertake comprehensive assessments; provide one-to-one counselling and therapeutic group work for people affected by life-limiting illness or bereavement.
* Manage your own complex caseload and recruit, support and line manage counselling students and volunteers.
* Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary Family Support Team to ensure high-quality care for patients, families and clients.
* Support the counselling allocation process and contribute to education and training within the hospice and externally.
* Participate in the Family Support and Bereavement Referral Line rota.
Qualifications and experience
* Recognised qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy; membership of BACP (or equivalent); accreditation or working towards accreditation.
* Experience of working with patients with an illness that cannot be cured and their families; substantial knowledge of grief and loss.
* Supervision qualification and experience facilitating therapeutic groups; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Desirable: leadership qualification and experience in leadership or line management.
* Full, clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
