ProTalent are working on behalf of a long-established and highly respected firm of Chartered Accountants in Brighton & Hove who are looking to strengthen their growing team with the addition of a Senior or Semi-Senior Accountant.

The Role
You will take on a varied and client-facing role, ensuring high standards of service and compliance. Responsibilities will include:
* Preparing and reviewing financial statements, annual accounts, tax returns, bookkeeping, VAT, and management reports.
* Building strong relationships with clients, providing advice, and supporting them with their accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).
* Supervising and mentoring junior accountants and trainees, reviewing their work and supporting their professional development.
* Ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS and the latest tax legislation.
* Staying up to date with regulatory changes and adapting processes as required.
* Identifying opportunities to improve internal processes and enhance client service.
About You
The ideal candidate will be technically strong, client-focused, and eager to develop their career within a supportive environment. You will bring:
* AAT/ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified status.
* At least 2 years’ experience in practice, with a solid grounding in accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT, and tax returns.
* Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax compliance.
* Experience with accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and good Excel skills.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to clients.
* Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.

* Salary: £26,500 – £32,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
* Holidays: 20 days plus bank holidays, rising to 25 with service.
