Role overview
Introduction to the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Director to join our successful health employment team, based in Manchester.
Joining a busy but growing employment team, you will be given plenty of client responsibility but at the same time be part of a supportive team environment who regularly advise the NHS on matters of national importance.
You will be a trusted member of the Team and will work closely with the Team Partners to assist in the coordination of cases, as well as the supervision of other team members.
You will have the opportunity to work as part of a wider employment team, which currently has a national presence.
The primary aim of the role is to support our health sector clients (primarily NHS) with an excellent legal advice and oversee complex employment tribunal litigation.
Key responsibilities:
18. Lead on complex employment tribunal litigation.
19. Providing legal advice to a broad range of healthcare clients, across the NHS, primary care and private health sectors.
20. Undertake all aspects of employment law including drafting various employment documents, advising on maternity and paternity rights, discrimination, whistleblowing, employee relations issues, disciplinary matters and grievances, mediation, dismissals, redundancy and restructuring, TUPE and employment tribunal claims.
21. Transactional support.
22. Build and maintain client and internal relationships, adhering to both internal and external operating procedures.
23. Contribute to business development by seek new business opportunities.
24. Having a wider contribution to the Health business group and wider Firm by continually seeking ways to improve.
25. Supervision of colleagues work and supporting development of the team by appropriate delegation and coaching.
Essential:
26. Law degree (or equivalent).
27. Demonstrable experience in an employment team.
28. The ability and experience of managing a caseload providing sound, pragmatic advice.
29. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
30. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
31. The ability to work as part of a team and independently.
32. Ability to adheres to guidelines and procedures.
33. Experience of client relationship management.
34. Ability coach and develop colleagues.
35. Flexibility in approach and a willingness to work outside normal office hours, if required.
Desirable:
