Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Special Care Dental Nurse based at Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Hours
36 hours per week and is term-time. This will be further discussed at interview. Job share will be considered for this post.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.
UK Driving Licence
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What You Will Do
We require a motivated individual with excellent communication skills who can work well within the team. The post holder will be required to provide full chair‑side assistance to the clinician, carry out dental reception duties and decontamination duties within the Local Decontamination Units & within the dental surgery. Current and relevant chair‑side experience is essential. Applicants should have excellent organisational skills, be highly motivated, and be able to prioritise workload, have excellent communication skills with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
Knowledge, Training and Experience Required

* Experience and knowledge of dental software packages is desirable.
* Registered with the General Dental Council.
