SEN Tutor - Creative / Trauma-Informed Approach Location: Marlborough Hill, Dorking, RH4Hours: Part-time, 15 hours per weekStart Date: ASAP (flexible)Pay: £30-£35 per hour, based on experience We are seeking an experienced SEN Tutor to support a young person with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role requires a trauma-informed, relationship-led approach, initially focusing on creative engagement (art-based learning) before gradually introducing Maths and English. Day-to-day of the role: Build a trusted, consistent relationship through creative and low-pressure engagement.Use art and creative activities as the primary entry point for learning.Gradually reintroduce Maths and English in a child-led and interest-based way.Support emotional regulation and readiness to learn.Act as a stable, safe adult presence within the young person's week.Deliver 1:1 sessions in line with the EHCP outcomes.Use creative, practical, and interest-led methods to engage the pupil.Work flexibly around emotional presentation and capacity to learn.Introduce Maths and English only when the young person is ready.Provide session feedback and progress updates.Liaise with the wider professional network where required. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience as an SEN Tutor, particularly with SEMH needs.Strong understanding of trauma-informed, relationship-led educational approaches.Ability to use creative and art-based learning techniques.Patience, consistency, and ability to build trust with students.Excellent communication skills to liaise with families and other professionals.Flexibility to adapt to the emotional and educational needs of the student.
