Position: Senior Funeral Director
Location: Romney Marsh Funeral Directors, New Romney
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: From £33,000.00 per annum
Why This Role Matters
As a Senior Funeral Director, you will be responsible for team performance, development, and operational leadership, supporting the Cluster Manager in achieving business objectives. This role ensures consistent compliance, client satisfaction, and staff excellence, fostering a culture of empathy, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
The Role
A Senior Funeral Director leads funeral home front-of-house operations, ensuring compassionate, high-quality care for families and exceptional service delivery. This role encompasses all responsibilities of a Funeral Director with added focus on direct line management of Funeral Service Arrangers and Funeral Directors.
This is a rewarding and multifaceted leadership position that combines business acumen with empathy and a commitment to service. You'll take ownership of operations, people, client satisfaction, and local marketing initiatives, helping your brand succeed as a trusted presence in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build empathetic relationships with families, supporting them through the whole funeral journey.
* Ensure all funeral arrangements are respectful, appropriate, and reflect the client's wishes.
* Oversee the complete delivery of funeral services from planning through execution.
* Provide day-to-day line management of Funeral Service Arrangers and Funeral Directors, including regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and training support.
* Ensuring compliance with operational standards and procedures within the Funeral and Crematoria divisions.
* Foster a positive, professional team culture that reflects company values.
* Support the Cluster Manager in overseeing branch performance, audits, and compliance processes.
* Identify service gaps and recommend improvements to processes and training.
* Provide compassionate support to families beyond regular working hours when needed.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
* Is comfortable leading and motivating a team to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, presentation, and service delivery.
* Is empathetic, service-oriented, and committed to excellent client outcomes
* Understands the nature of the role and is prepared to assist families whenever needed, ensuring continuous care and operational effectiveness.
* Can follow strict procedures, maintain accurate records, and ensure adherence to legal and company regulations.
* Is confident working independently and thrives on delivering results
* Has excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills
* Is digitally savvy and comfortable using Microsoft Office and scheduling tools
Desirable experience:
* Background in leading, mentoring, and motivating a team to maintain high service standards.
* Understanding of funeral or service-based industries
* Understanding of operational efficiency, service offerings, and financial considerations within the funeral industry.
