Job description
Leading a team of Supervisors and Operatives, you'll promote a safety-first culture where everyone is committed to doing their work in the right way. You'll ensure teams are appropriately briefed, working efficiently, and have the right resources to succeed.
You'll also manage various inspection regimes, ensuring high standards of work are maintained across all activities, and you'll contribute to incident management as part of the Silver Manager rota.
Your effective leadership and focus on continuous improvement will support the long term success of the M25, ensuring it remains safe, resilient and in top condition.
Your role
1. Ensure quality of works undertaken and drive productivity.
2. Monitor KPI performance.
3. Oversee accurate data capture of all completed maintenance and incident works activities.
4. Manage depot facilities, vehicles, plant, and equipment safely and efficiently.
5. Ensure sufficient resources for On-Roads operations, incident responses and maintenance activities, both reactive and planned.
6. Be Part of the Silver Manager Rota and manage emergency incidents at silver level.
7. Responsible for managing winter maintenance at depot, including vehicles, stock and rotas.
8. Produce effective daily briefings to deploy staff and ensure records of briefings are maintained.
9. Ensure compliance with systems, processes, and procedures.
10. Develop and maintain RAMS associated with incident responses.
11. Conduct regular inspections of site/depot activities and maintain inspection regimes, reporting both good practices and areas for improvement.
12. Conduct safety tours and provide feedback on 'Don't Walk By'observations.
13. Support Zero Harm objectives through hazard and risk management
14. Manage and develop a high performing team, providing clarity of responsibilities, monitoring performance, and supporting growth and development.
15. Ensure team members are well-equipped for their roles by monitoring and implementing all necessary training.
16. Oversee depot staff schedules, annual leave, overtime, and sickness.
17. Carry out Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) and implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) as required.
18. Champion talent development and succession planning to build a capable workforce.
19. Foster a culture of collaboration through regular communication and knowledge sharing.
20. Ensure timely and thorough investigations of any HR, H&S and damage/misuse incidents.
21. Continuously evaluate operations for opportunities to improve the way we deliver using data, driving innovation and efficiency across the team.
22. Focus on lean and sustainability targets.
23. Report management information related to operations and delivery activities.
Requirements
24. Appropriate CSCS qualification.
25. Experience in highways maintenance operations or similar.
26. Team leadership and management experience driving performance and productivity.
27. Strong communication skills.
