Job Description
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Arboricultural Project Manager (Highways) to join our dynamic Scottish Grounds Maintenance team in Scotland. This is a full-time role working 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a range of Arboriculture Projects, including Ash Dieback, undertaken by Amey throughout Scotland, primarily on the NMC North-East & South-West Contracts.
This role suits candidates with an arboriculture or forest management background. The ideal candidate will have keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to set and manage project objectives and outcomes, including developing processes and technical solutions.
What You’ll Do:
1. Lead and manage woodland and Ash Dieback projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
2. Oversee accurate data collection on tree and woodland assets, including condition and maintenance needs.
3. Collaborate with data collection and GIS teams, identify opportunities for process improvements, and implement innovative solutions to enhance data capture and analysis.
4. Ensure data analysis processes are accurate and reliable, implementing quality control measures.
5. Utilize analytical tools to extract insights from large datasets and improve data management capabilities.
6. Analyze data to inform management strategies.
7. Create reports and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders clearly and effectively.
8. Prepare technical notes, woodland management plans, and ash dieback action plans.
9. Evaluate operational methodologies and access constraints for felling and thinning, collaborating with stakeholders to develop solutions.
10. Develop operational delivery programs, monitor progress, and ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards are met.
11. Capture and manage delivery records diligently.
12. Measure works according to approved methods.
13. Provide administrative support for operational activities.
14. Conduct professional tree inspections and woodland/vegetation surveys as needed.

Candidate Requirements:
* Ability to work across all of Amey’s Network Maintenance Contracts in Scotland.
* Proven project management and data analysis experience in arboriculture or forestry.
* Strong planning, execution, and monitoring skills.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Experience with GIS / Asset Management software.
* Operational knowledge of thinning and felling methodologies, especially mechanized solutions.
* Ability to communicate complex information effectively and work collaboratively.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field; Higher Diploma considered.
* Current Lantra Professional Tree Inspection certification or commitment to attain it.
* Desirable: Business, Project Management, Data Analytics, or Process Improvement qualifications.
* Experience working on trunk road maintenance contracts or similar roles is desirable.
* Strong entry-level candidates with appropriate qualifications may be considered.
