Overview
Location: Port Sunlight Research Lab, Bebington, England, United Kingdom. This position is within the Global Fabric Enhancers R&D Design team at Port Sunlight, UK, focusing on developing technologies and formulations for fabric enhancers in the Comfort & Snuggle portfolio. The role is primarily laboratory-based with on-site work in Port Sunlight and involves working with a cross-functional team to deliver new innovations and technologies for the global portfolio.
Fabric Care is a major category in Unilever Home Care, comprising Fabric Cleaning (brands such as Dirt is Good and Surf) and Fabric Enhancers (brands such as Comfort and Snuggle). The team aims to delight consumers with differentiated formulations and cutting-edge technology aligned with Unilever’s Bright Future strategy.
Responsibilities
* Work in a team of formulation scientists supporting the technical project team to develop superior and sustainable liquid booster products
* Support the development of formulations meeting project briefs across aesthetics, performance, cost, and stability
* Effective time management and planning to deliver project timelines
* Validate technologies such as new fragrances, new benefit ingredients, more sustainable ingredients, and safer ingredients
* Validate product saving options to fuel category growth
* Build domain expertise in Fabric Enhancer formulation science
* Develop Fabric Enhancer consumer understanding across formats, habits, preferences and pain points
* Support development of new digital and automated methods to support formulation development
* Support the development of demos and knowledge-based strategies to demonstrate product benefits
* Work according to laboratory safety rules and ensure compliance with COSHH and SOP requirements
About You
Key Skills
* Laboratory formulation experience and expertise
* Good organization and time-management
* Good written and verbal communication to convey information effectively and influence outcomes
* Ability to work within project teams to achieve objectives
* Ability to use digital tools such as MS Excel, PowerPoint, LIMS, ELN & SDC and report outcomes clearly
* Experimental design, statistical tools, data analysis, and interpretation
* Problem solving with practical creativity and relevant action orientation
* Ability to work with multi-functional teams internally and externally
* Attention to detail and accuracy in assessment and reporting
Essential Criteria
* BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in Physical Sciences or Engineering (e.g., Physics, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry)
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in Home or Personal Care formulation roles
