This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team on daily activities related to the regime. This role involves working alongside regulatory reform efforts and supporting the transition of the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The role's duties and responsibilities include:
1. Providing technical leadership in waste classification
2. Leading Hazardous Waste compliance efforts and initiatives to improve compliance
3. Enhancing leadership of priority waste streams
4. Offering technical support focusing on priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
5. Tackling regulatory challenges, securing long-term improvements, and supporting Defra in circular economy work related to Hazardous Waste
6. Focusing on Hazardous Waste enforcement to support actions in the control strategy aimed at reducing offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead the management of hazardous waste, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste management.
