As a TEFL Tutor, you will have the rewarding opportunity to design and deliver engaging lessons in conversational English, empowering a diverse range of clients, many of whom may face challenges with their spoken and written English.

Salary: £24,796 to £25,185 per annum plus a Crawley Weighting allowance.

Contract Type: Fixed term contract for 18 months.

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Location: Your base location will be Chichester or Crawley with required countywide travel.

Interview Date: Week commencing 01 September 2025

This role requires the successful candidate to travel throughout the county to lead lessons. Regular attendance at your designated base location will be necessary and there will be opportunities for remote work. Final arrangements will be confirmed with the successful candidate.

This role involves engaging confidently and professionally in face-to-face interactions with adults and families who do not speak English as a first language, as well as with internal and external clients.

You will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available.

About the Job

Our work in the TEFL support team is truly dynamic, and each day can bring something new and different! There are certain key responsibilities that are likely to be a vital part of this role, including:

* Plan and facilitate teaching sessions on basic conversational English for individuals and families in various locations across the county, as needed.
* Organise and deliver both in-person and occasional online classes, as well as assign homework materials for students to review between sessions.
* Conducting meetings, welcoming guests, and delivering English language sessions to families and visitors of all ages and skill levels.
* Confidently performing informal assessments of students to determine their current level in English.
* Complete administrative tasks related to the teaching sessions. This includes keeping records to show the services you provide, such as tracking attendance and assessments, which help plan future activities and meet business needs.

Required Qualifications and Skills

* Four GCSEs with A-C passes, including Maths and English, or an equivalent qualification or experience demonstrating a comparable level of numeracy and literacy.
* A TEFL (Teachers of English as a Foreign Language), CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), or similar qualification to enable the planning and delivery of teaching sessions to individuals supported by the service.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills to give clear, helpful advice and guidance to a variety of clients.
* Excellent skills in planning and delivering short-term English lessons, making sure all the key content is covered, and sessions stay on schedule.
* Able to keep accurate notes on each session and provide feedback and stats to show the results of each one.
* General IT skills like Word and Excel (or similar programs) for word processing, data handling, making simple presentations, managing basic computer databases, producing basic statistical data, and tracking attendance and assessments, etc.
