To service with limitedcommission and install if competent fire alarm and associatedsystems in line with the current regulations liaising with theservice department to ensure best practice and the most costeffective solution. To complete and return all companydocumentation and certification to comply with the companys systemsand procedures. To work as a team with colleagues and the seniorengineer to build on the companys reputation in quality andcustomer service.
PrincipalResponsibilities
Carry outscheduled routine servicing in a timely efficient and costeffective manner in line with the Companys qualitystandards.
Carry out all other necessary worksrequired at customer premises in accordance with the Companysquality standards.
Give prompt and efficientattention to emergency call outs received during working hoursincluding outside of working hours if dutyengineer.
Support the rota schedule as requiredto maintain a reliable and responsive out of hours service forcustomers.
Effectively communicate withcustomers to ensure a good understanding of system and site statusparticularly system defects that affect its correctfunction.
Liaise with service administrators toensure service commitments are met.
Plan ownwork including routine service/maintenance visits emergency callout requirements and remedial repairs and minor additions toexisting installations in line with service administrationguidance.
Ensure legible and timely completionof all company paperwork in line with Companyrequirements.
Be responsible for the managementand security of own equipment stock in an efficient and economicalmanner by determining stock levels in relation to work activitiesand ordering stock items as and whenappropriate.
Operate in accordance with theCompany Handbook and all Company and customers quality standardsand health and safety requirements.
Pass on anypotential leads for further business to the relevant SalesEngineer.
Discuss any suggestions forsystem/service improvement with the SeniorEngineer.
Attend training sessions identified bythe Company and identify and communicate to the Engineering Managerany personal training and development needs.

Accountablefor:
Leaving customers with fullyfunctioning fire detection and alarm systems unless EngineeringManager/Customer has been informed of the reasons that completionis not possible before leaving the premises.
Allown documentation being completed and reaching the requireddestinations within agreed time limits.
Ensuringthat customers are always satisfied with the service theyreceive.
Scopeof Financial Authority
Maypurchase equipment or materials for site work up to a value of 500if preauthorised by the Engineering Manager.
Maytake orders for additional equipment or works as defined in theEngineering Price Guide.

Skills:
Able to work independently.
Able to planimplement and complete service activities withoutassistance.
Able to identify all types of cableassociated with fire detection and alarm systems. and to correctlytest and terminate the cable ends in accordance with manufacturersinstructions.
Able to operate all required testequipment
Demonstrates a logical approach tosystem fault diagnosis and rectification.
Understands different types of cable containmentsystems.
Deal with customers endusersconstruction personnel and inhouse staff in a professionalmanner.
Verbal and writtencommunication.
Technicalknowledge:
Full and detailedunderstanding of BS5839 Pt:1
Completed Units1456 and 8 of BFPSA Training.
Understands thebasic building service systems e.g. air conditioning systems with aview to interfacing with them.
Has acomprehensive understanding of the causes and cures of fire alarmproblems including an ability to recommend changes to practices andprocesses that may cause false alarms as well as changes to thefire detection and alarm system.
BasicElectrical Safety training (ECA)
Manufacturerstraining with a minimum requirement of Notifier and Gent equipmentin respect of servicing
Manufacturers Trainingin all other equipment as required. This may include VESDA RadioFire Suppression and will be decided by the Engineering managerbased on regional needs.
Note: Specific producttraining will be arranged within the first 6 months of employmentif necessary to meet the minimumparameters.

Documentation:
Able to read prepared plans and technical sketches service andrepair systems in accordance with information provided and recordchanges to and the location of equipment on the installationdrawings and the O & M manual.
Identifies and reports the requirement for new and additional worksto the Senior Engineer.
Accurately completesappropriate paperwork in line with Companyrequirements
Calculates the incidence of falsealarms and prepares advice for the customer on the implications ofthese incidents.
Health andSafety:
Has completed and fullycomplies with the necessary H & S training UnderstandingSafety.
Fully understands and complies with theCompanys health and safety procedures and has signed a copy of theTrinity Engineering Health and safetyblueprint
