The Role
As a Principal Engineer, you’ll lead the design assurance and as-built engineering activities across major HS2 work packages.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring that constructed works are accurately captured, validated, and reflected in final design records, working closely with site teams, designers, and digital delivery specialists.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the review and validation of as-built designs across heavy civils packages (earthworks, structures, drainage, etc.)
Provide technical oversight and assurance to ensure compliance with HS2 standards and specifications
Coordinate with construction and site teams to resolve design discrepancies and engineering challenges
Support the production of as-built models, drawings, and engineering documentation
Mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to technical best practice
Engage with stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information handover
What We’re Looking For
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership
Significant experience in heavy civils design (rail, highways, Structures, civils and major infrastructure)
Strong understanding of as-built processes and design assurance
Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects (HS2 experience highly desirable)
Proficiency with relevant design tools within Bentley Environments.
Excellent leadership, coordination, and communication skills
