Position Details
This is a fixed‑term secondment post for 12 months. The salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours. The Lead Clinician will have two management PAs (8 hours) and will also be expected to work one day a week (12 pm to 8 pm) clinically in the Centre itself.
Clinical Leadership
A unique and high‑profile clinical leadership position has arisen owing to the creation of NHS GGC’s first GP Walk‑in Centre (GP WIC), based in Cardonald Health Centre. This post provides GPs with an opportunity for leadership and urgent care provision to make a real difference to patient care and to be instrumental in setting up this exciting new service. The Lead Clinician will be embedded as part of the wider GP Out of Hours Management Team and will be well supported by the Clinical Directors and, from there, onto the Deputy Medical Director, Primary Care.
The Cardonald Walk‑in Centre is one of 16 walk‑in centres that are due to open nationally in coming months. The Cardonald centre will be open by June 2026 and will complement local daytime General Practice by providing walk‑in access seven days a week between Midday and 8 pm.
The Lead Clinician will be part of the tri‑partite clinical leadership team for the Centre, providing leadership and support to the medical staff working within the service. The Lead Clinician will be responsible for clinical governance for the service and will work with colleagues across local and national systems to ensure we provide the highest quality of service to the patients we serve.
