This founding role blends English homeroom teaching with leadership of the primary library program. The post-holder will lead English-language learning within a co-teaching/bilingual framework, deliver Units of Inquiry and related content areas, and design a vibrant library program that builds reading culture, information literacy, and digital citizenship across the primary school. The library will be developed as a welcoming, multi-functional learning hub that supports project-based, interdisciplinary learning and whole-child development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning (Homeroom – English Focus)
* In a co-teaching partnership, lead the delivery of the English language program, and teach Units of Inquiry and Sciences through the medium of English.
* Design and implement engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that foster a spirit of scientific exploration and bring a rich global perspective to all areas of learning.
* Develop and implement differentiated teaching strategies and personalized learning plans based on the age, needs, and learning traits of each student, including those learning English as an Additional Language (EAL).
* Provide patient, individualized guidance to students, designing meaningful learning engagements and encouraging them to explore and inquire with confidence.
* Utilize a range of formative and summative assessment strategies to provide meaningful feedback and inform instructional planning.
Library & Resource Management (Teacher Librarian)
* Design and deliver a PYP-aligned library curriculum focused on information literacy, research skills, digital citizenship, and academic honesty.
* Foster a vibrant school-wide reading culture through engaging promotions, author visits, and reader advisory services.
* Create a welcoming, inclusive, and inquiry-focused library environment for all students and staff.
Collaboration and Curriculum Integration:
* Co-plan Units of Inquiry with Chinese homeroom teacher and specialist teachers; embed research and media literacy into projects and STEM-focused learning opportunities.
* Serve as the school's expert on inquiry-based research, providing guidance and resources to both students and faculty.
Student Wellbeing & Community:
* Foster holistic development and classroom culture that values wellbeing, diversity, and mutual respect; build strong home–school partnerships through proactive communication.
* Contribute to the wider school community by leading at least one co-curricular activity (CCA) per semester.
