Role Overview
The role of Activities Co‑Ordinator at Akari Care is a part‑time permanent position dedicated to caring for the elderly. You will work closely with the Home Manager and community teams to engage residents in a range of activities that respect their individual tastes and promote inclusion. The job involves planning and conducting individual programmes, encouraging new hobbies, and accompanying residents to off‑site activities to enhance their social interaction and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and initiate rolling or individual programmes, encouraging residents to maintain pre‑existing hobbies and try new activities.
* Engage residents to socialise within the home, ensuring diverse and inclusive activities that cater for all tastes, abilities and cultures.
* Accompany residents to off‑site activities where possible, going above and beyond to enrich their lives.
* Support and encourage colleagues, relatives and friends to participate in activities with residents, fostering additional stimulation and socialising.
* Assist with innovative fund‑raising initiatives and budgeting for entertainment, materials and outings to secure additional resources for activities.
* Maintain a supportive, caring and safe environment, ensuring residents feel valued, respected and able to lead full lives.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience working in a similar environment.
* Previous experience in a similar role.
* A caring nature and ability to give everyone a personal approach.
* Flexibility and adaptability to changes at short notice.
* Ability to work well under pressure without adversely affecting those around you.
* Warm, approachable, engaging persona, with an outgoing personality.
* Respect for all individuals, treating others as you would expect to be treated.
