<div><p>Fixed term until 30/4/28, this position offers an opportunity to support ongoing research into axon morphology maintenance in C. elegans within the lab of Dr Muriel Desbois at Keele University’s School of Life Sciences.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Oversee the maintenance of C. elegans laboratory stocks and essential reagents, ensuring day‑to‑day operation of the research lab.</li><li>Train on and conduct a wide range of laboratory experiments, including genetic crosses, forward genetic screens, microscopy‑based analyses, behavioural assays, and molecular biology techniques.</li><li>Analyse experimental data, prepare results for discussion with the Principal Investigator, and contribute to presentations at internal meetings and potentially scientific conferences.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant area such as neuroscience, genetics or microscopy.</li><li>Experience working with or rearing insects is essential.</li><li>Good knowledge of genetics/molecular background is desirable.</li><li>Substantial capacity to work independently, problem‑solve, maintain close attention to detail, and collaborate within a dynamic team environment.</li></ul><h3>Benefits</h3><ul><li>Competitive benefits package.</li><li>Flexible working practices available wherever possible.</li></ul><p>The University welcomes applications from individuals of Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds for all roles.</p></div>
