Consultant Surgeon – Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery
We are looking to recruit a Consultant Surgeon with an interest in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery to join our forward‑thinking Department.
The appointment aims to expand the breadth and quality of the General Surgeon Service and deliver care across the Trust due to increased demand. The postholder will be based in either Scunthorpe or Grimsby General Hospital but will be expected to deliver care across all Trust sites.
Responsibilities
* Provide elective and emergency general surgical care, including upper gastrointestinal, colorectal and cancer procedures.
* Participate in on‑call commitments for General Surgery across all Trust sites.
* Maintain operative efficiency and capacity, supporting the recovery of waiting times post‑COVID.
* Collaborate with the surgical team and participate in multidisciplinary caseload discussions.
* Contribute to teaching and research as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School.
Qualifications
* Consultant experience in general and laparoscopic surgery.
* Strong endoscopy skills and an interest in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery.
* Demonstrated ability to work in both emergency and elective settings.
