Overview
St Mary’s Catholic High School is located in Astley, Tyldesley, Manchester Road, M29 7EE. Salary is Grade 6, £26,593 - £29,346 per annum. This is a permanent post for a Senior Science Technician working 37 hours per week term time plus 3 weeks working 41 weeks per year. The appointment is required as soon as possible.
The Governors of this 11-18 Catholic high school and college are looking to appoint a Senior Science Technician to provide the Science Faculty with quality technical and scientific assistance, in order to enhance the quality of educational experiences offered to students in science.
Responsibilities
* Lead and work as part of a small team across all sciences to provide technical support.
* Prepare equipment and laboratories for practical classes; assist with demonstrations.
* Maintain standard laboratory equipment and resources; ensure the safe storage of chemicals.
* Work to high levels of health and safety within the science department.
* Contribute to a learning environment for KS3 Science, GCSE Science (AQA Triple and Trilogy), A Level Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and Level 3 Medical Science.
* Provide flexible support to meet changing demands and priorities of the role; represent the school in a professional and friendly manner.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience as a science technician in a school or college setting.
* Appropriate science qualification (to A level standard).
* Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Organised, methodical, enthusiastic, with leadership potential to lead a small team.
