At CUBE, You will work alongside some of the brightest minds in AI research and engineering in developing impactful solutions that are reshaping the world of regulatory compliance. The Role: The organisation seeks an experienced Lead Database Administrator (Lead DBA) to manage and develop the database infrastructure in both on-premises and cloud-hosted environments. This role involves providing technical leadership and direct oversight for database operations and improvements. The position will supervise a small team, maintaining performance, scalability, and reliability across SQL Server environments while supporting platforms like Cosmos DB and PostgreSQL. Responsibilities include managing critical systems, establishing standards, mentoring team members, and leading automation and modernization projects. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and related high availability/disaster recovery solutions. Lead activities focused on performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning. Supervise and mentor a team of database administrators, promoting ongoing skill development. Administer, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases in both on-premises and cloud settings. Initiate and oversee automation efforts to streamline setup, configuration, and job scheduling. Develop and enforce best practices for database security, backups, recovery, and monitoring. Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and DevOps teams to align database strategies. Provide direction and support for Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, and other utilized database technologies. Contribute to plans for database modernization, including integration with Fabric, Elasticsearch, and Azure Data Factory. Offer expertise on database design, performance, and scalability across projects. Stay informed about new database technologies and propose relevant solutions. Required Skills & Experience: Prior experience as a Senior or Lead SQL Server DBA managing production workloads. Advanced knowledge of SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and query optimisation. Significant hands-on experience with SQL Server Always On (Availability Groups) and HA/DR setups. Experience with both on-premises and cloud-hosted database management. Proficiency with Cosmos DB and PostgreSQL is preferred. Demonstrated ability to automate deployments, setup, and maintenance (using PowerShell, T-SQL, or similar). Leadership experience, including guiding and mentoring other DBAs. Effective communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and data lakehouse architectures. Experience integrating Elasticsearch for indexing and search. Exposure to Azure Data Factory or similar ETL/ELT tools. Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and database release automation. Relevant certifications Interested?
