Ongoing full time role Location – Gunnedah preferred, Tamworth/Narrabri may be considered Salary range from $84,659 to $92,701 super & leave loading About Us Local Land Services (LLS) is an Executive Agency within the Department of Regional NSW. It provides quality, customer-focused services to landholders and the community across New South Wales. You will be part of a highly respected team that values its employees and their input About the Role As a Biosecurity Officer with North West Local Land Services, you'll play a key role in supporting landholders to manage biosecurity in the region. You'll work on field activities, compliance with regulations, helping protect the agricultural landscape and natural ecosystems. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders, support emergency response efforts, and ensure programs meet national biosecurity standards. Key responsibilities: Conduct field and regulatory activities for disease management. Ensure compliance with biosecurity legislation and regulations. Engage with customers and stakeholders on biosecurity initiatives. Support surveillance, investigation, and emergency response efforts. Maintain accurate records and contribute to program evaluation. Key challenges: Engaging diverse stakeholders while applying regulations. Balancing planned activities with immediate biosecurity needs. About You This is a role for someone who loves being in the field and working with people and animals, and to be successful you’ll need to have a current NSW Class C Driver License and the ability and willingness to travel (including overnight stays) as required. Ideally, you’ll have some or all of the following now, however, if not you’ll need to have the ability and willingness to obtain these as part of your employment in the role: The ability to undertake Biosecurity Officer accreditation including a Certificate IV in Government Investigations The ability to hold and maintain Authorised Officer status under the Biosecurity Act Appropriate pesticide application qualifications (minimum AQF3 level) The capacity to hold an NSW firearms licence or equivalent, as well as obtain the Statement of Attainment - Use firearms to humanely destroy animals (AQF AHCVPT203A or AHCPMG304) and be appointed as an Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act Current NSW Class C Driver License and the ability and willingness to travel For more information please contact Robert Mckinnon on 0428 667 920 or email at bob.mckinnon@lls.nsw.gov.au.
