Overview

Special Education Needs Tutor role at Targeted Provision in Leicestershire. Core subject (Maths, English, or Science) SEN / SEND tutors for young people with SEND, SEMH, and other additional educational needs. Multiple positions are available and recruitment is ongoing to meet the varied needs we support.

We are on a mission to transform the quality of education provided to young people with SEN (Special Education Needs) / SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities). We are increasingly supporting children and young people with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties). We are looking for SEN / SEND tutors with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners in Leicestershire.

At Targeted Provision our mission is to raise the standard of educational support offered to vulnerable young people in the UK. We keep the team around the child, and you will be supported throughout every placement by our team of SEN / SEND support specialists. This role is suitable for qualified SEN / SEND teachers who are eager to work 1:1 with children and young people with diverse learning needs, in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner to raise engagement and improve educational outcomes.

The SEN / SEND Tutor role

* Provide Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD/SLD, or other Additional Educational Needs referred to Targeted Provision
* Learn about the learners referred by local authorities and schools and support their educational and social-emotional journey
* Deliver flexible and holistic trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring


SEN / SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities

* Plan each tutoring/mentoring session
* Provide holistic, engaging sessions that meet the learner 0needs and advance educational and social-emotional development
* Complete lesson reports and provide progress feedback


SEN / SEND Tutor requirements

* Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS)
* Minimum 2 years teaching experience
* Experience working with learners with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other Additional Educational Needs
* Knowledge of safeguarding processes
* Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this at cost if needed)
* Two professional references
* Based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, including for remote/online assignments

It is a strict requirement that you promote the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people and follow safeguarding policies at all times.


SEN / SEND Tutor Employment Status

* Engage with us as a Worker for short-term engagements as they arise
* Contract for service; paid via PAYE
* No guaranteed hours or expenses coverage
* Our insurance covers the work you do for us
* This is not a self-employed tutoring/teaching position
